How does our online timer work?
Our countdown timer works entirely in your browser without requiring any installation. Enter the desired time in hours, minutes, and seconds — or choose one of the quick presets — and click "Start". A clear countdown is displayed on screen and your chosen alarm sound plays when time is up. You can pause, resume, and reset the timer at any time.
The timer also shows the remaining time in the browser tab, so you can work in other tabs and still keep track. Works just as well on mobile as on desktop — completely free.
The Pomodoro Technique
The Pomodoro Technique is a popular time management method where you work focused for 25 minutes and then take a 5-minute break. Our timer has a built-in Pomodoro mode that automatically alternates between work and break intervals, so you don't have to set the timer manually each time.
The technique is excellent for studying, programming, writing, and all types of focused work. Enable Pomodoro mode in the timer above to get started right away.
Quick presets
Use the buttons above the timer to quickly set a countdown of 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 45, or 60 minutes. The quick presets are perfect for cooking, brewing tea, stretching, Pomodoro sessions, workouts, and much more.
Common uses
An online countdown timer is useful in a wide range of situations. In the kitchen, it helps you keep track of cooking times and oven temperatures. During study sessions, it provides structure to your work intervals. During exercise, you can use it for interval training or rest between sets. Many also use it for timed meetings and presentations.
